TOOGOOD 014
Toogood’s Spring/Summer 21 collection is rooted in the British landscape with a positive theme of renewal. The pastel hues of old rose, barley and celadon and earthy tones of clay, stone and charcoal are taken from a landscape painting by Paul Nash depicting the coastal beauty of Dymchurch in Kent.
Faye co-founded the fashion side of the business with her sister, Erica Toogood. Toogood’s clothing is instilled with the unmistakable spirit of both sisters: Faye’s preoccupation with materiality and Erica’s audacious shape-making. One a tinker, the other a tailor.
FABRICS AND COLOURS
New fabrics include crisp cotton-silk mixes with a subtle sheen, Crumpled Cotton-Silk in old rose pink, a chambray Linen-Cotton Drill in clay and indigo, and a light translucent cotton-silk Gingham in a stone grey and cream. Toogood’s archetypal summer fabrics; Work Drill, Fine and Crisp Cottons and Textured Laundered Linen return.
New styles this season are characterised by volume, wrapping and tying, A-lines and V-necks. The oversized unisex Artist Smock has long ties at the sides. The A-line Philosopher Coat for women wraps to one side with generous sleeves gathering to cuffs and stitched ties to close. The Glassblower Jacket for men has detachable long ties on one side to create shape and interest.
Toogood’s best-selling unisex shapes, including the Photographer Jacket, Draughtsman Shirt and Baker Trousers, provide a comfortable every-day uniform in five colourways in Poplin, Calico and Canvas.
